What certification means

A graded music exam is an independent test of your playing or singing, set by a recognised exam board. Pass it and you earn a certificate that shows exactly where you stand, recognised far beyond your classroom. Artium prepares you for graded exams with its own Exam board along with others such as Trinity College London, ABRSM, RSL and the Gandharva Mahavidyalaya.

No. Certification is optional. Every learner follows Artium’s structured curriculum with regular assessment, and graded exams are there for learners who want external recognition.

Yes. Depending on your course, you can work towards Artium’s own certification or a graded pathway with ABRSM, RSL, Trinity College London or, for Indian classical music, the Gandharva Mahavidyalaya.

Artium’s curriculum is OfQual accredited and carries UCAS points where applicable. External grades are awarded by the boards themselves, so your certificate carries their recognition too.

Artium certification is assessed within your curriculum, with no external exam fee. Exam fees and scheduling with ABRSM, RSL, Trinity College London and the Gandharva Mahavidyalaya are handled separately from your Artium course fee.

Grade 8 completes the graded pathway with most boards. From there, advanced learners can work towards diploma-level study and keep performing at a professional standard.

Yes. Your teacher can help you move between Artium certification and an external board as your goals become clearer.
